Summary
Arild Moe is a Research Professor at the Fridtjof Nansen Institute (FNI). Most of his research has focused on Russia, particularly the energy sector and energy politics. He has written extensively on the internal organization of the oil and gas industries, the potential for foreign participation, and export policy frameworks. He has also examined the development of Russian climate policy and its relationship to energy interests, and is currently involved in a project investigating the consequences of climate change for economic development in Russia’s Arctic regions. Beginning with his participation in the International Northern Sea Route Programme (INSROP), he has conducted research on Arctic shipping, with a particular focus on the political and legal conditions for navigation along the Northern Sea Route. Norwegian policies in the High North, especially those concerning Svalbard, have remained a consistent area of interest throughout his work.
